The concept of spaced repetition was first introduced in the 1880s by German scientist Hermann Ebbinghaus. The technique is imeplemneted by Leitner system for flashcards. This method is based on the principle that information is more effectively memorized and retained when reviews are spaced out over time.

How It Works in Mem-App

In Mem-App, our spaced repetition algorithm determines the optimal time to review a word based on your responses. When you review a word, you can choose "Yes, Remembered" or "No, Forgot."

Yes, Remembered: If you select this option, the word is up-ranked, and the app schedules the next review for a wider interval in the future. This means you will review the word after a longer period, allowing your memory to strengthen.
No, Forgot: If you select this option, the word is down-ranked, and the app schedules the next review for the following day. This ensures that you revisit the word soon and reinforce your memory through repetition.

New Improvement: Time Zone-Based Scheduling

We are excited to announce enhancement to our spaced repetition algorithm: time zone-based scheduling. Previously, the review dates were calculated without considering the user's local time zone. With this update, the app now takes into account the time offset of your location, ensuring that reviews are scheduled at the right day based on your timezone.
